In September 2020, Ms. Evans attended an international pact signing at the White House in Washington, DC, in her role as a Jewish community leader. The Abraham Accords, a diplomatic pact involving Israel, the United States, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), functions as a bilateral agreement serving to formalize state relations in the region. Many in attendance, including international leaders, believe the pact can represent a strong step away from war and towards peace.
Several leaders spoke on the pact’s potential in areas of economic development, educational improvements, and general cooperation and collaboration on various initiatives throughout the region. The occasion marked nearly 25 years since such an agreement had been formalized, dating back to when President Bill Clinton hosted Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Jordanian King Hussein as they signed a declaration that led to an official peace accord just months later. “It was an amazing experience, and one I will never forget,” Renee Evans was quoted in an AJT article. “ I am so great full to the President for inviting me to attend, and it was wonderful to see my family and friends from Israel as well.” Renee Evans is heading back to the White House next month for meetings and the annual Hanukkah Party at the White House.
